IMPORTANT

The primary purpose of this position is to provide a student trainee who has been appointed to an approved Air Force training program with on-the-job training and guidance. The student trainee will perform a variety of duties in the Equipment Operations section.

Current students enrolled in accredited educational institutions from high school to graduate level. Includes internships, pathways and other student programs.
Clarification from the agency
Current students enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student on a full or half time basis at an accredited academic institution.
Duties
***This position is temporary and has a Not-to-Exceed date. However, this position may be extended to the fullest legally allowable period without further competition. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.***
Working under the guidance of and under close supervision of senior personnel on a variety of work assignments consisting of learning to operate one or more types of heavy equipment.
Under very close supervision, assists in the maintenance and repair of flexible and rigid roads, pavements, parking areas, airdromes, bike paths, sidewalks or similar surfaces of asphalt or concrete.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

You must be a student currently enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying accredited institution
Must have a good academic standing (no less than 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for bachelor's programs and 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for master's program
Must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement
This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Program

The duties of this position may require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required
Employee may frequently lift and move equipment and components weighing over 50 pounds. A pre-employment physical may be required.
May be required to work other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the generalized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Student Trainee Positions.
Failure to submit transcripts, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university will result in an ineligible rating.
QUALIFICATIONS:
For WG-01 grade level:
Current enrollment in a high school diploma program
For WG-02 grade level:
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent no later than June 2025 AND acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university
For WG-03 grade level:
Completion of 30 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)
For WG-04 grade level:
Completion of 60 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)
NOTE:
You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
***For completed educational programs or equivalent during Spring/Summer 2025, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university for Fall 2025 must be provided
