We are hiring a Material Handler Supervisor for long-term projects in Mississippi. This position will manage multiple Material Handlers covering multiple sites in the Canton/Jackson Miss area. 

Job Summary:

The Construction Site Material Handler Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the handling, storage, and distribution of materials at a construction site. This role ensures that all materials are received, stored, and delivered efficiently to support construction operations while maintaining safety and compliance standards. The supervisor manages a team of material handlers, coordinates with site managers, and optimizes material flow to prevent delays and inefficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and coordinate material handlers on-site.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure productivity and workflow efficiency.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and site regulations.

Material Handling & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of construction materials such as HVAC and Plumbing equipment, steel, and tools.
  • Ensure materials are properly logged, labeled, and stored to prevent damage or loss.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and coordinate with procurement teams to avoid shortages.
  • Implement tracking systems to maintain accurate material records.

Logistics & Coordination:

  • Plan and schedule material deliveries based on project timelines.
  • Communicate with suppliers, site managers, and contractors to ensure timely material availability.
  • Optimize material flow to prevent bottlenecks and downtime in construction activities.
  • Work with equipment operators to ensure safe and efficient unloading and transport of materials.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all material handling activities comply with construction safety standards and regulations (OSHA or other applicable guidelines).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Train employees on safe material handling practices and emergency procedures.
  • Address and resolve any safety issues or incidents on-site.

Equipment & Maintenance:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment.
  • Schedule routine inspections and report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs.
  • Ensure workers are trained and certified to operate machinery safely.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in material handling or logistics, preferably in construction.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a construction environment.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Ability to read blueprints and project schedules to anticipate material needs.
  • Proficiency in using inventory tracking systems and construction management software.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment (certifications preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and coordination with construction teams.
  • Understanding of workplace safety regulations and best practices.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily works on active construction sites.
  • Requires standing, walking, and lifting heavy materials.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction site hazards.
  • Will require overtime, weekend, or shift work based on project demands.
