FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Foreman

Pay: $23.44 - $39.06/hr.

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 675 Los Esteros Road, San Jose CA and limited job-related travel may be required.

Position Summary:

GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Heavy Equipment Operator to provide support to one or more facilities. This role's main function is to operate heavy machinery in various aspects of operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Operate one or more pieces of heavy machinery, including Front End Loaders, Excavators, Dozers, Skip Loaders, Trash Compactor, and forklifts.
  • Follow all Company Safety Procedures.
  • Operate in a safe manner around ground crews and the public.
  • Load trucks and/or processing equipment.
  • Push material on tipping pads as needed.
  • Construct onsite building pads, all weather surfaces, and slopes.
  • Maintaining the sites roads and terrain.
  • Assist with unloading trucks as needed.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspection and be able to properly document.
  • Keeping tipping areas clear.
  • Operate in a safe manner around ground crews and the public
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety
  • Must be familiar with each piece of equipment, its functions and safety procedures and design.
Qualifications:

  • Must pass yearly Operator Evaluation and other safety courses provided through GreenWaste.
Language Skill:

  • Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
  • Constant bending and twisting.
  • Able to sit in equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent standing, walking and sitting
  • Constant climbing in and out of equipment
Work Environment:

Typical work week is Monday through Friday. Overtime required as needed. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week.
