Position Summary:

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and engineering support for industrial plant maintenance projects. The role involves managing maintenance tasks, planning for process improvements, overseeing modifications to existing facilities (brownfield projects), and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The Facilities Engineer will focus on maximizing the efficiency and reliability of plant systems, coordinating maintenance activities, and addressing technical challenges in an active industrial setting.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • TechnicalOversight: Provide engineering support for maintenance projects, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization of mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • MaintenancePlanning: Develop and implement maintenance schedules for facility systems, coordinating with operations to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance.
  • BrownfieldProject Management: Oversee modifications and upgrades to existing facilities, ensuring that work is performed safely and meets engineering standards.
  • EnergyIsolation Compliance: Ensure proper procedures are followed for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other energy isolation protocols during maintenance activities.
  • ContinuousImprovement: Identify and implement strategies to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of plant equipment and systems.
  • ProjectDocumentation: Prepare and review engineering documentation, such as maintenance plans, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • ChangeManagement: Manage technical changes to projects, including scope adjustments and approval of modifications.
  • Clientand Contractor Coordination: Serve as the technical liaison for clients, subcontractors, and vendors, addressing any engineering-related issues.
  • SafetyLeadership: Promote a culture of safety by implementing best practices and ensuring compliance with industry standards during maintenance activities.
  • Otherduties as assigned

 

Technical Requirements:

  • EngineeringDesign and Analysis: Proficiency in using engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for design and analysis of mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • Equipmentand Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with process piping, rotating equipment, complex bull rigging, and demolition within an industrial plant setting.
  • EnergyIsolation Procedures: Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and other safety procedures.
  • Problem-SolvingSkills: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in complex mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • Project ManagementTools: Experience with project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera, for scheduling and resource planning.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’sDegree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related  A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • WorkExperience:
    • Five(5) years of experience in industrial plant maintenance or facilities engineering, with an emphasis on brownfield projects and process system optimization.
  • Certifications:
    • ProfessionalEngineer (PE) license 
    • Relevantsafety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, NFPA 70E).
  • PostJob Offer Requirements:
    • Takeand pass a pre-employment drug test
    • AlaskaNorth Slope locations only: Take and pass a Fit-for-Duty Examination

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • TechnicalProficiency: Strong understanding of industrial plant systems, including process piping, electrical, mechanical, and utility systems.
  • SafetyExpertise: Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout, hazardous material handling, and equipment isolation procedures.
  • AnalyticalSkills: Ability to perform technical analysis, interpret data, and provide actionable recommendations to improve system performance.
  • CommunicationSkills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • TeamCoordination: Experience leading cross-functional teams in maintenance and engineering projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
