Mrs. Gerry's offers 120 different products including pasta salads, coleslaws, salad kits, specialty salads, and sides, including the popular Premium Mashed Potatoes that were introduced in 2005 and, of course, the recipe that started it all - Mrs. Gerry's Original Potato Salad. These hours may vary depending on any special projects that need to be completed. Adjustments to start times and/or schedule will be determined by Maintenance Supervisor.

SUMMARY
Assists in establishing and maintaining all physical aspects of equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Know and follow HACCP and SQF programs.
Know and follow all Food Safety procedures.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Follow all Safety procedures and protocol.
Wear all required personal protective equipment. For more information see policy.
Know and follow all emergency procedures.
Communicate with others.
Basic understanding of all productive equipment.
Preventive maintenance
Diagnose mechanical problems.
Oversee mechanical systems.
Repair equipment.
Operate power tools.
Order replacement parts.
Work in all types of weather conditions.
Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
GENERAL
Do routine preventative maintenance including:
Grease, lube adjust equipment as necessary.
troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
order parts and maintain proper equipment logs.
Grounds
Remove snow from sidewalks, steps, loading docks and roof as needed. Salt sidewalks and parking lot.
Plumbing
Install new water lines, gas lines, airlines and drain lines as needed for moving old or installing new equipment.
Repair water lines, airlines, drain lines above and below ground.
Repair sinks, toilets, water softeners, water heaters, dishwasher, and furnaces.
Electrical
Troubleshoot and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, mixers, printers, processing equipment, etc.
Replace switches, plugs, cords, outlets, motors, circuit boards, relays, starters, contactors, etc.
Construction
Build new walls, remodel doorways, pour cement curbs and floors, repair block walls, patch floors, repair damaged walls. Install, repair, and move pallet racking.
Boiler
Operate and maintain four boilers and feed water systems. Troubleshoot and repair as needed. Do yearly boiler rebuild/inspection.
Truck/Trailer Mechanics
Repair wiring for lighting, repair/replace mud flaps, fenders, walls, load locks, air leaks, replace batteries and alternators, trouble shoot electrical on refrigeration unit.
Cleaning
Urschel Blades: Take apart and clean and reassemble and inspect blades weekly.
Membrane Heaters: Take apart and clean weekly.
On Call
Nights, weekends, and holiday for night production problems, clean up problems, refrigeration, boiler alarms, peak alerts, interruptible gas.
All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Person must have knowledge of refrigeration systems and plumbing. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of two years' experience or education in industrial maintenance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear and push or pull. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee will have limited lifting, must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds for transport of training materials and setting up learning events. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Required to wear PPE when in production areas to ensure safe food and adhering to safety practices.

When providing learning or walking through the plant to perform the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts. The employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions when traveling between entrances; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Works primarily in an office environment with visits in the production areas of the plant.
