Position Summary:

The Electrical Superintendent reports directly to the General Superintendent and is responsible for the management and direction of electrical craft crews, customarily consisting of one Foreman, one Journeyman, and four Apprentices. Management duties may include, but are not limited to the hiring, firing, and advancement of subordinate employees. The incumbent ensures all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable electrical codes, project requirements, standards and specifications, and local, state, federal and client rules and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages and directs work activities of Electrical Craft Crews
  • Oversees erection and installation of electrical work activities
  • Conducts routine surveillance of all electrical activities
  • Ensures work activities are carried out in accordance with applicable codes, standards and specifications
  • Provides technical advice, guidance, and recommendations
  • Monitors and reports all electrical progress, acquiring necessary documents and approvals to ensure continued workflow
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or Equivalent
  • Current and valid Driver’s License
  • 5 years’ Electrical Supervisory experience in Oil and Gas Industry

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • (1 year of directly related work experience may qualify to substitute 1 year of education to meet the education requirement)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical Fabrication processes, procedures, standards and specifications
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, operational and mechanical systems including; installation, test, maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of testing equipment, test lamps, and measuring devices
  • Knowledge of proper electrical equipment use conducive to conditions and assignments including adherence to Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations
  • Ability to recognize and respond to dangerous situations or emergencies such as high voltage systems, electrical fires, loose hot wires, broken power lines, etc.
  • Ability to diagnose system malfunctions, locate cause of breakdown and correct the problem or recommend solutions
  • Ability to set and balance priorities in order to complete projects on time
  • Ability to make decisions and recommend appropriate course of action in difficult situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively as a supervisor both verbal and written
