Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Journeyman Controls Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical control systems for a wide range of industrial equipment and conveyors. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, control wiring, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), motor control systems, and conveyors. Must live in the Dallas - Fort Worth area or be willing to relocate. This is NOT a traveling position, NO PER DIEM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems and associated equipment.

  • Work with PLC systems, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), motor control centers (MCCs), and other electrical control components.

  • Perform electrical wiring and control panel installations.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.

  • Utilize test equipment to verify system functionality and identify faults.

  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, and other trades to support production and equipment reliability.

  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.

  • Complete daily logs, work orders, and maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Assist in the installation of new control systems and upgrades to existing systems.

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.

  • Must live in the DFW area!

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent, with significant experience in industrial controls and conveyor systems.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and automation systems.

  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics, control diagrams, and other technical documentation.

  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical and control systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Working knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety practices (OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members, engineers, and management.

  • Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

  • Flexibility to work in various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with advanced PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).

  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems and robotic systems.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (temperature, noise, heights, etc.).

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
