We are seeking a candidate who can supervise and train Instrument Operators and Surveyor Assistants. The successful applicant will lead the survey field crew and direct their work. The role will include working outdoors in all weather conditions and at elevations on structures. You will collect survey data and perform layouts in accordance with Bechtel Surveying Procedures.
You will mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks, carry and set stakes, and clear brush from survey lines. Staking and grading for excavation will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will operate survey instruments and obtain data pertaining to angles, elevations, points, and contours.
Compiling notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed is essential. You will communicate with Field Engineers and Supervisors, work under time constraints, and be adaptable to changing conditions. Assisting in establishing horizontal and vertical control for the project, reviewing design drawings for correct data, performing and checking calculations will also be required.
You will load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies, as well as perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment. Assisting in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces during installation is also part of the role.
