Concrete Finisher

Under general supervision, performs safe and efficient duties necessary in the heavy construction industry. The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements.  Must be able to travel (relocate) from jobsite to jobsite for continued employment, able to work both scheduled and non-scheduled overtime, and able to work night (second or third) shift assignment. If slipforming operation is in progress, able to work 12 hours or more per day, 7 days per week, for two weeks plus period of time.

Essential job craft/trade functions:

• Knowledge/experience in utilizing Dry Chemical Type (ABC) fire extinguisher.
• Ability to utilize ruler/tape measure to 1/8 of an inch.
• Ability to use with accuracy Spirit/carpenter level.
• Ability to use with accuracy Carpenter, bevel and tri squares.
• Ability to set screeds for concrete floors, slabs, etc.
• Ability to hand screed concrete floors, slabs, etc.
• Ability to perform concrete “hard steel trowel finish”.
• Semi-skilled (ability/knowledge/experience) in applying topping to fresh concrete.
• Ability/knowledge/experience in applying concrete curing compound.
• Ability/knowledge/experience in utilizing ANSI Crane Hand Signals.
• Ability/experience in receiving, understanding and reacting to verbal transmitted instructions/commands via two-way radio.
• Ability/knowledge/experience in performing safety maintenance equipment check for hand and power tools, construction and portable equipment utilized by the craft/trade.
• Basic mechanical abilities to perform maintenance, adjustment and minor repair on hand and power tools, construction and portable equipment utilized by the craft/trade.
• Ability to read/understand General Drawings, specifications and instructions.
• Ability to “layout work” (assigned work task) with accuracy.
• Ability to use oxygen/acetylene cutting torch.
• Knowledge of rigging requirements for less than heavy lifts.
• Ability to determine concrete quantity in cubic yards for walls, floors and slabs from actual field measurements.
• Ability to setup and operate power screeds.
• Ability to setup and operate power troweling machine.
• Ability to “wet screed” concrete floors, slabs, etc.
• Semi-skilled (ability/knowledge/experience) in applying topping to cured concrete.
• Semi-skilled (ability/knowledge/experience) in applying cementation products/materials.
• Ability/knowledge/experience to finish fresh slipform walls by rubbing, brushing, and stoning.
