Responsibilities for Quality Control

Oversee Quality Control Processes:

  • Supervise all quality control activities on-site to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Conduct Inspections:

  • Perform regular inspections of materials, workmanship, and construction processes.

Implement Quality Procedures:

  • Develop and enforce quality control procedures and protocols.

Train Staff:

  • Provide training to employees on quality standards and procedures.

Maintain Documentation:

  • Keep detailed records of quality inspections, defects, and corrective actions.

Coordinate with Project Teams:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to address quality issues.

Report Findings:

  • Generate and present reports on quality control activities to management.

Ensure Compliance:

  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and client specifications.

 

Responsibilities for CWI

Weld Testing:

  • Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to ensure the WPS is appropriate for the test and complies with relevant codes and standards.
  • Prepare Test Materials to ensure the necessary materials, including base metals, filler metals, and any required equipment is available.
  • Set Up Testing Environment to ensure the testing environment is suitable, including proper lighting, and fixture is available for appropriate test position.
  • Monitor the Welding Process to observe the welder during the test to ensure adherence to the WPS and proper technique.
  • Conduct Visual Inspection and destructive bend test.
  • Document Findings

Inspect Welds:

  • Ensure all welds meet industry standards and specifications.
  • Maintain site weld map.

Document Findings:

  • Accurately document and report inspection results.

Train and Mentor:

  • Provide training and guidance to junior inspectors and welders.

Ensure Compliance:

  • Verify compliance with welding codes and safety regulations.

Use Nondestructive Testing:

  • Manage “third party” nondestructive testing methods to evaluate welds.

Developed Procedures:

  • Assist in developing and implementing welding procedures and protocols

 


Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience from working under a Quality Management Program
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience working as Quality Inspector and/or Quality Technician
  • Must hold a current AWS CWI, ASNT VT II, and/or API 510/570 certifications
  • Extensive knowledge of NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, RT)
  • Understanding of ASTM standards and materials
  • Efficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and construction project management software (Procore preferred)
  • Ability to work as a team and communicate effectively with co-workers
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of reading and understanding drawings
  • Must be a quick learner and self-motivated with the drive to learn and grow
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed
  • Experience working to customer specifications
  • Experience with the verification of mechanical equipment alignment
  • Extensive knowledge of codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ACI, AISC, NACE)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be willing and able to climb up and down stairs and ladders while working on scaffolds and in trenches to access work
