Job Description

Southern Response Services is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Millwrights to support a critical 5-day outage project, with potential for longer-term opportunities depending on performance and workload. The ideal candidates will be skilled in machinery installation, maintenance, and repair in an industrial setting, with a strong focus on safety, precision, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, turbines, motors, and valves.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Use precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators) to ensure accurate machine alignment.

  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and rigging as required.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and participate in repairs during the outage window.

  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure timely project completion.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of recent experience as a Mechanical Millwright in an industrial or outage setting.

  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and using alignment tools.

  • Familiarity with shutdown/outage procedures and fast-paced work environments.

  • Must have own basic tools and PPE; specialty tools provided.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and in varying conditions (hot, confined, loud).

  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and commitment to safety.

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass any required drug or background screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCCER or Millwright Certification.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Experience working in paper mills, chemical plants, or heavy industrial environments.

Project Details:

  • Duration: 5 Days (with potential for longer-term work)

  • Schedule: Likely 10–12 hour shifts, including weekend work

  • Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience; per diem may be available for qualifying travelers
