Job Summary: A skilled Mason responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures such as walls, floors, patios, fireplaces, and walkways using bricks, concrete, stone, and other building materials. The Mason follows blueprints and specifications to ensure proper design and structural integrity, while working with a variety of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Lay and bind bricks, stones, or concrete blocks to construct or repair walls, arches, chimneys, walkways, fences, and other structures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or instructions to determine the specific requirements of each project.
  • Mix and apply mortar or concrete, ensuring proper proportions and consistency for a strong bond.
  • Use measuring tools to accurately align and level structures, maintaining consistency in height, width, and thickness.
  • Cut, shape, and polish stones or bricks as necessary to achieve the desired design or structural fit.
  • Apply weatherproofing techniques, such as sealing or caulking, to protect structures from water damage or wear.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools (trowels, levels, hammers) and power tools (masonry saws, drills) safely and efficiently.
  • Repair existing masonry work, such as filling in cracks, replacing damaged bricks, or rebuilding damaged sections of walls.
  • Clean work areas and maintain tools after use, ensuring all materials are stored properly.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure that masonry work aligns with project requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mason or similar role in construction.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of masonry tools, including trowels, hammers, levels, and saws.
  • Knowledge of building materials such as bricks, concrete, stones, and the appropriate mortar mixtures for each.
  • Strong physical endurance and ability to perform manual labor in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
