THE JOB
We are currently hiring a Marine Electrician to be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems on tugboats and barges. This position will perform equipment safety inspections and routine preventative maintenance of electrical and electronic systems and components while also performing maintenance and installation of controllers, motors, alarms or other electrical equipment aboard operating tugboats and barges. This position should also expect to complete testing on equipment and systems to diagnose malfunctions and/or ensure equipment is working properly.

THE CATCH
• Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of three years' experience as an electrician required; marine environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar diesel engines, Electronic Control Modules (ECM), and Furuno electronic navigation equipment is highly preferred.
• Experience with a variety of navigation and communication equipment, to include Xenon spotlights, VHF radios, weather stations, swing meters, radar, and depth sounders is highly preferred.
• Beginner knowledge of diesel engine operations, maintenance and repair preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyze blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting of DC and AC systems, circuits and equipment and the associated tools for doing so, including, but not limited to, multimeters, scopes, amp probes, load banks, and thermographic imaging cameras.
• Working knowledge and experience with 12- and 24-volt DC operating, monitoring and alarm systems.
• Working knowledge and experience with 120, 208, 240, and 480 volt, three-phase equipment, and the associated distribution, control, and monitoring systems.
• Working knowledge and experience with 208 and 480 three-phase generator sets
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate, diagnose, and repair a variety of electrical equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Work Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Department of Homeland Security.
• Must maintain a valid Drivers' License and an insurable driving record in order to operate company owned vehicles.
• Ability to travel up to 5% to other work locations, as required.
• Ability to work up to 5% on an on-call schedule as required and overtime as requested.
• Physical Requirements:
o Pulls, pushes and/or lifts a variety of equipment and parts requiring force up to 100 pounds on occasion.
o Work may be performed in a shop environment and on tugboats and barges, as job duties require.
