Electrical General Foreman

Location: Loving, NM

Type: Full Time

 

General Information/Job Summary

 The General Foreman coordinates and directs the activities of multiple Foremen on a project or may coordinate and direct the activities of craft personnel directly. Responsible for ensuring construction and maintenance tasks are completed in a timely, safe, and cost-efficient manner. Works under the direction of a Job Site Superintendent or directly under the direction of a Project Manager.

 The General Foreman typically works under direction of the Superintendent, but may serve as the lead representative for the company at a construction site, directing and coordinating the activities of the various trade groups such as Carpenters, Equipment Operators, Pipefitters, Welders, Electricians, Instrument Craftsmen, etc. When in this capacity, the General Foreman’s role is like that of the Superintendent, providing overall management oversight for all phases of the construction project, including coordinating workers, material, and equipment and ensuring that specifications are being followed.

 Responsibilities include making sure that the work progresses according to schedule, that material and equipment are delivered to the site on time, and that the activities of the various workers do not interfere with one another.

 Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and to improve construction methods. Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to. Prepares, or receives from subordinates, reports on progress, materials and equipment used and costs and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.

 

 Responsibilities/Competencies

  •  Must have a broad working knowledge of their assigned craft (carpentry, pipefitting, equipment operation/rigging, instrument/electrical, welding), having the same basic aptitude and interests as those working in the craft they
  • Must demonstrate an above average knowledge of all facets of their trade and have extensive personal experience performing in the
  • Must possess knowledge of safety procedures and have good interpersonal and communication Responsible for promoting safety awareness and for enforcing safety policies.  May at times require overall accountability of Job Site Safety.
  • Develops effective work plans, giving assignments/instructions to foreman and/or work crews and supervises their work
  • Must possess ability to motivate subordinates under their supervision to complete their assigned tasks safely, skillfully, and efficiently, and within the project
  • Must be able to read and visualize objects from blueprints and have an eye for precise
  • Communicate with Superintendent/Project Manager to keep them informed on progress of work assignments and/or any new
  • Must be able to deal effectively with employees and various levels of customer representatives to resolve scheduling problems, determine work priorities, and assess the relative magnitude of project requirements as they impact project
  • Estimates labor, materials, and equipment needed to complete work
  • Inspects and tests or supervises inspection/testing of completed work assignments of crew, checking for compliance with project drawings, specifications, and quality control May at times require overall responsibility for quality control/quality assurance.
  • Prepares daily progress reports and maintains records and files. Maintains inventory of material associated with assigned
  • Recommends promotion/demotion of subordinates and identifies training
  • Has the authority to discipline, including termination when Discipline and terminations are discussed with Management prior to acting.
  • Requires working in operating facilities and observing and abiding by additional safety
  • policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  •  48 months experience in Electrical Industrial Construction
  • State Electrical License

 

Safety Requirements

  • On a continual basis, promotes an awareness of environmental, health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment and ensures compliance with all accompany policies
  • Ability to pass drug test as mandated by the Saulsbury Industries and Department of Transportation anti-drug program
  • Must attend and successfully complete Saulsbury Industries safety training education
  • Attends safety meetings and specialty training as directed by management
  • Attends various training classes as may be assigned by management
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
  • Ability to take needed safety precautions in performing the work
  • Must own Fire Resistant Clothing (FRC)

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb 30-foot ladders without resting
  • Ability to maintain balance on catwalks and narrow workspaces
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to reach above head while sitting or standing
  • Ability to reach below knees while standing
  • Ability to stoop or kneel
  • Ability to work 60 or more hours each week
  • Ability to work at heights a minimum of 20 ft.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
