Description Heavy Equipment Operator

Please note that the starting pay rate for this position is $40.68 followed by a pay rate increase to $42.70 upon successfully completing probation (typically six months).

Our Gravel Production Support Services team is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator who will operate a variety of heavy equipment, trucks, and semi-tractor trailers in support of water, natural gas, electric, and wastewater construction and maintenance activities and special projects. Some of the equipment that you will have an opportunity to safely operate includes track excavators, wheel loaders, backhoes, skid loaders, mobile cranes, track dozers, and digger derricks. You will be required to navigate driveways, alleyways, high-traffic roadways, and operate equipment in a variety of tight overhead environments.

What Else Will You be Doing?
  • Inspecting equipment, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, and scheduling repairs
  • Performing pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documenting checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)
  • Coordinating major construction projects
  • Performing skilled activities in repairing utility collection, transmission, and distribution systems
  • Assisting customers with questions and providing information to address questions and concerns
  • Assisting in project planning and setting up job sites
Please note that the successful candidate must be available to work overtime and will be subject to callouts after-hours as dictated by business needs.

Who You Are
  • Demonstrated experience in the skilled and safe operation and transportation of heavy equipment
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL); tanker, doubles, and triples endorsements are preferred, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
