Position: Pipefitter

Job Location: Norfolk

Hutco Branch: Portsmouth

Rate of Pay: $26.00 per hour (per diem available)

DESCRIPTION:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Musthave two years of shipboard experience and be at a journeyman level of competence and should have a minimum of a high school degree or a technical vocational high school degree
  • Experience in pipefitting in Marine/Shipyard environment
  • Proficient in fabrication, installation and testing marine piping systems
  • Ability to understand, perform and certify in silver brazing
  • OSHA 10 Maritime & Firewatch Training
  • Must be able to pass a seven-year background check w/ No Felonies
  • Must pass drug test and E-Verify.
  • Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Hard Hat, Steel Toe Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Gloves
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Repair and replacement of ships piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, compressed air, furl oil, lube oil and engine exhaust are accomplished utilizing work items specifications, NAVSEA/Military standards and marine blueprints
  • Necessary fabrication abilities include the use of various shop equipment such as a table saw, pipe threading machines, bending machines (power as well as hand operated, drill presses and brazing equipment)
  • Additional task associated with this position are strain free of pumps and miscellaneous ship equipment as well as blanking, pressure testing of tanks (structural boundary testing) and unblinking of the same
  • Perform related tasks as assigned, some of which may be essential to the position
  • Must be able to read and interpret marine piping blueprints and military specification
  • Must be able to pass written and hands on exams
  • Candidates must travel to all Naval Bases
  • Must be able to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Must have own tools.
