Description About the Position:
We are seeking experienced Structural Welders to join our team for commercial and U.S. Navy ship repair projects. This position involves welding and fabricating structural components in accordance with industry standards, blueprints, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipyard or heavy industrial welding, with a strong understanding of various welding processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform SMAW (Stick), FCAW (Flux-Core), and GMAW (MIG) welding on structural components.
  • Weld and fabricate steel, aluminum, and other materials per specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to complete projects accurately.
  • Inspect and test welds to ensure compliance with NAVSEA, AWS, and ABS standards.
  • Operate torches, grinders, and other metalworking tools safely and effectively.
  • Work in various positions, including vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Collaborate with fitters, riggers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
  • Perform repairs, modifications, and new fabrications on ships and commercial structures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of welding experience, preferably in a shipyard or heavy industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW welding techniques.
  • Ability to pass a NAVSEA welding certification test (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA and shipyard safety regulations.
  • Experience working with high-strength steels and aluminum.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • U.S. Citizenship may be required for certain contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with U.S. Navy ship repair or commercial shipbuilding.
  • Current OSHA 10/30 Maritime Certification.
  • Ability to obtain a DBIDS badge for access to naval facilities.
