We are seeking a skilled Journeyman HVAC Technician to join our team at our oil refinery facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems in a challenging industrial environment. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC principles, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a refinery setting.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, including electrical and mechanical components, refrigerant leaks, and system malfunctions.
- Perform emergency repairs as necessary to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation of critical HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and refinery staff to coordinate HVAC activities with ongoing operations and maintenance projects.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials and compliance with refinery safety regulations.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, logs, and equipment records.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies related to HVAC systems and recommend improvements or upgrades as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited HVAC technician program preferred.
- Journeyman HVAC technician certification or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably in a refinery or similar industrial environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, including electrical wiring, refrigeration systems, and control systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to refinery safety regulations at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
- EPA Universal Certification for handling refrigerants.
- Additional certifications in electrical systems, controls, or other related fields.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
