Job Title: C7 Certified Blaster
Job Summary
The Blaster is responsible for abrading surfaces of metal or hard composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart a specified finish.
Overview: We are currently seeking experienced Abrasive Blasters to join our team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in abrasive blasting and must possess SSSPC C7 or SSPC CAS certification or an approved equivalent. The ability to wear a respirator is essential for this role. SSPC C3 certification is a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Performing abrasive blasting operations on marine vessels and structures according to specifications and quality standards.
• Preparing surfaces for coating by cleaning, sandblasting, and removing old paint and corrosion.
• Operating and maintaining abrasive blasting equipment and ensuring its safe and efficient use.
• Adhering to all safety regulations and protocols, including those related to the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators.
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate workflow and ensure project deadlines are met.
• Additional duties may include assisting with coating applications and surface preparation as needed. Recovery of spent abrasives.
• Ability to work a 10 to 12-hour shift when required.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in abrasive blasting.
• SSPC C7 or SSPC CAS certification or an approved equivalent is required.
• Ability to wear a respirator and comply with respiratory protection requirements.
• SSPC C3 certification is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to perform tasks in a marine environment, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
