GENERAL DUTIES:

• Manipulate rigging lines: Use hoists, pulling gear, and rigging lines to move and support materials
• Align, level, and anchor machinery: Make sure machinery is aligned, leveled, and anchored
• Prepare loads for transport: Inspect and prepare loads for transport
• Attach pulleys and blocks: Use clamps and bolts to attach blocks and pulleys to fixed overhead structures
• Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging: Use hand and power tools to fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear
• Test rigging: Ensure rigging is safe and reliable
• Signal workers: Verbally or signal workers engaged in moving and hoisting loads to ensure the safety of materials and workers
• Control equipment movement: Use gin poles, gallows frames, chainfalls, and other equipment to control the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces
• Communicate with lifting operators: Communicate closely with lifting operators
• Understand hazards: Understand the hazards associated with different types of loads
