Marine Shipfitter

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Marine Shipfitters for projects located in San Diego, CA.  This is a first shift opportunity with a pay rate of up to $41/hour based on experience and skill level for Local Candidates.  The pay rate is up to $30/hour BOE plus $150/Per Diem to Travelers 60+ miles from the job site.  If you are a Shipfitter eager to demonstrate your knowledge and skills while learning new ones, this is your chance to advance in your career!

Job Scope:

• Assemble, cut, and grind metal structural parts; plates, bulkheads, strong backs, turnbuckles, and come-along
• Align parts in relation to each other 
• Tack and weld foundation and structural members
• Perform layout work according to blueprints or reference lines 
• Mark location of holes to be drills 
• Drive wedges and install temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding 
• Perform other related tasks assigned 

Requirements: 

• Must have OSHA 10, Maritime and Fire watch certifications 
• Must have respirator fit testing completed 
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check 
• Minimum of 5 years experience in marine shipyard 
• T1 Welding certification 
• Must pass a vision test
• Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces 
• Must be able to work any and all shifts 
• Must comprehend written and verbal instructions
