Position: Rope Access Technician

Location: Mountain View, California

Reports to: Foreman

Summary: A Rope Access Technician at Kovach performs a variety of tasks related to metal roofing, including installation, repair, and maintenance of metal roofing systems. The role involves working at heights and in various weather conditions, ensuring safety compliance at all times. Technicians collaborate with a skilled team to efficiently complete projects, leveraging their expertise in rope access techniques to safely and effectively carry out roofing tasks. The position demands attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On-site Presence and Reliability: Arrive at the job site promptly at the required start time as indicated by the Supervisor.
  • Quality Assurance: Regularly review the work completed to ensure it meets Kovach's high-quality standards.
  • Safety and Communication: Strictly adhere to Kovach's safety protocols, job site-specific requirements, rope access industry standards, and reporting injuries. Immediately communicate any safety concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Work Ethics: Motivated to work hard, productive, and efficient on the job.
  • Good Listener: Able to follow simple directions and communicate effectively.
  • Material Handling: Safely maneuver and position materials while working on steep sloped roofs and other surfaces.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting on roofing systems, and alignment of all installed materials to confirm high quality installation.
  • Problem Identification: Proactively identify and report potential problems to the Supervisor.
  • Housekeeping: Assist in removing and disposing of roofing materials and ensuring the worksite remains clean and safe.
  • Team Collaboration: Ensure the well-being of fellow employees on-site, promoting a team-first environment. Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Continuous Learning: Demonstrate initiative in the tasks performed and continually seek to grow in knowledge and understanding of Kovach’s scope of work.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in rope access work & construction (metal roofs or facades is a plus).
  • SPRAT or IRATA certification (a plus but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of rope access safety regulations, fall protection, & PPE usage.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights to install materials.
  • Team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Physical fitness and stamina for demanding work conditions.

  • Noise levels may be high due to machinery and equipment.
