Description

360X Staffing is hiring for Steel Fitters/Ship Fitters for winter repair season. You MUST have experience working in a shipyard or industrial environment. You MUST be willing to work OT for the next 12-16 weeks during repair season.

 

Position: Steel/Ship Fitter (Oxy Acetylene Torch Cutting and SMAW Welding)
Industry: Ship Repair
 
Job Description:
- Utilize Oxy Acetylene torch cutting and 7018 Stick (SMAW) welding techniques to fabricate and assemble steel structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and welding requirements.
- Cut and shape steel materials using an Oxy Acetylene torch, ensuring precision and accuracy.
- Weld steel components together using 7018 Stick (SMAW) welding process, maintaining strong and durable welds.
- Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Inspect welds and steel structures for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with other trade workers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate steel fitting and welding projects.
- Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure for precise measurements and cuts.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
 
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a steel fitter with expertise in Oxy Acetylene torch cutting and 7018 Stick (SMAW) welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient in using Oxy Acetylene torch cutting equipment and 7018 Stick (SMAW) welding techniques.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication, welding processes, and materials.
- Skilled in using a tape measure for accurate measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and quality in steel fitting and welding work.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform welding and steel fitting tasks.
- Certification in welding, steel fabrication, or relevant field is a plus.
