Description Summa Mechanical Contractors, LLC. Is looking for a hands on Pipefitter Superintendent who will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating pipefitting projects within a construction setting. As a pipefitter Superintendent you will oversee and manage project needs including but not limited to materials, personnel, schedules, and communication with project management team and building officials

This is an 8-month contract with the potential for transition into a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Must have a hands on attitude, willing to help those under them.
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, and budgets for pipefitting projects.
  • Allocate resources and manpower efficiently to meet project timelines.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, providing clear instructions and guidance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team, offering feedback and implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a safe work environment.
  • Ensure that pipefitting work is performed to the highest quality standards and in compliance with project specifications and industry codes.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed work to identify and rectify any issues.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of required materials and equipment for the projects.
  • Oversee inventory management, maintaining adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Supervise and actively participate in the installation, assembly, and repair of piping systems, including cutting, threading, welding, and brazing.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to guide the team effectively.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during the project execution.
  • Propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Act as a liaison between the pipefitting team, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and milestones effectively.
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure that the project stays within the allocated budget.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
  • Maintain accurate records, including work progress, materials used, and any changes to the project scope.
  • Prepare reports and documentation required for project completion and client deliverables.
Requirements
  • 5 or more years of experience running and managing commercial HVAC piping/welding construction jobs
  • Experience supervising job site personnel - Foreman to Apprentice level
  • Ability to lead a team to include teaching and coaching
  • Experience completing required documentation electronically
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred

  • Ability to travel, as needed, for projects
