Job Description:- Operate hydraulic cranes up to 160 tons at a naval base or military shipyard, supporting marine operations, ship repair, and construction projects.- Hold a valid National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certification specific to hydraulic cranes to ensure safe and efficient crane operations.- Safely lift, move, and position heavy materials, equipment, and supplies on naval vessels, docks, and shipyard facilities.- Use rigging techniques and signals to accurately position loads in tight spaces, over water, and on moving ships.- Conduct pre-operational inspections, perform routine maintenance checks, and report any equipment issues to maintenance teams for prompt resolution.- Collaborate with riggers, signalers, and other team members to coordinate lifting and placement activities in compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, lift plans, work orders, and safety compliance documentation.
Qualifications:- Valid NCCCO certification for hydraulic cranes, with a focus on 160-ton capacity cranes.- Prior experience as a crane operator in a naval base or military shipyard setting, with specific marine, ship repair, or shipbuilding experience.- Proficiency in operating hydraulic cranes in maritime environments, considering ship motion, weather conditions, and confined spaces.- Knowledge of rigging principles, load capacity limits, and safe lifting practices in marine operations.- Understanding of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and military base safety protocols specific to shipyard environments.- Physical strength, agility, and spatial awareness to operate hydraulic cranes effectively and safely.- Excellent communication skills, teamwork mindset, and the ability to follow instructions and work orders accurately.- Willingness to undergo security clearance processes and adhere to military base access requirements.
