Position Summary:

The Horizontal Directional Drill Foreman oversees a directional drill crew working on job site, making sure work is compliant with installation and safety standards. Oversees the field operations with a focus on safety, compliance, efficiency, cost management and innovation. Manages construction activities to ensure company procedures are followed and compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for running a variety of equipment including but not limited to; all types of Directional Drills, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) and locators. Along with overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
  • Experience drilling in both standard and high-risk areas.
  • Have knowledge of utility depths and placement.
  • Possess general knowledge of construction practices and be familiar with equipment, including routine service and maintenance.
  • Supervise the daily operations in accordance with job specifications and customer requirements while continually monitoring site for changing safety conditions and related issues.
  • Oversees all work is compliant with installation standards.

Job Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (Preferred) 
  • Must have a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record. 
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL
  • Proficient knowledge of DCI/Subsite locating equipment, utility installation techniques and standards. 
  • A minimum of 5 years' operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch)
  • A minimum two (2) years utility construction experience, strong interpersonal, team-oriented skills.
  • Must have leadership experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more). 
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. 
  • Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. 
  • Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding. 
  • Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels. 
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. 
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. 
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
