Manufacturing Production Welder

The Manufacturing Production Welder is responsible for performing welding operations to fabricate and assemble metal parts in a manufacturing environment. This role involves interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate welding techniques (mainly MIG), and operating welding equipment to meet production goals while maintaining high-quality standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities.:

  • Welding Operations:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand project specifications.
  • Set up welding equipment and select appropriate welding methods based on material type, thickness, and production requirements.
  • Perform welding operations using various techniques, such as MIG, and spot welding, to join metal components accurately.
  • Monitor welding processes to ensure proper fusion, penetration, and quality of welds.
  • Tac, grind and finish Body and BIW Structures
  • Material Preparation:
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and degreasing to remove contaminants and ensure proper adhesion.
  • Position and secure workpieces in welding fixtures, jigs, or vices to maintain alignment and stability during welding.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Inspect welds visually and using measuring tools, such as calipers and gauges, to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Make adjustments to welding parameters and techniques to address any defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations while handling welding equipment, materials, and tools.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses, to prevent injuries and exposure to hazards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of welding supplies and materials.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in welding preferred.
  • Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, arc, and spot welding.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and materials, such as welding machines, torches, electrodes, and filler metals.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for welding operations.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects.
