Vast is looking for a Facilities Technician, reporting to the Senior Manager, Construction, to support the development of the factory that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:
  • Plumbing Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, gas lines, and related fixtures.
  • Installation & Upgrades: Install, replace, and upgrade plumbing systems and components such as pipes, fittings, valves, sinks, toilets, water heaters, pumps, and gas appliances.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to plumbing emergencies, diagnose issues, and execute prompt repairs to prevent damage and minimize disruptions.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all plumbing work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including proper adherence to building codes. Conduct regular safety checks and maintain detailed records.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other technicians to support facility upgrades and new construction projects.
  • Vendor Management: Work with external contractors for specialized plumbing tasks, conducting site walk-throughs, reviewing bids, and overseeing the completion of projects.
  • Support Functions: Assist with general facilities maintenance tasks when required, such as electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work, with a primary focus on plumbing systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of facilities and/or maintenance experience
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in the aerospace industry or similar high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting plumbing blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations, including gas line installation and repair.
  • Experience with both commercial and industrial plumbing systems, including high-pressure systems.
  • Basic understanding of other facilities maintenance areas (electrical, HVAC, carpentry) is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
  • Specific certifications, as appropriate
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Must have a valid CA driver's license

$27-$51 USD
