Description Journey Level Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E&I)

Challenger Companies, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Journeyman-level E&I Electrician.

Wage $54.40 PLUS BENEFITS - Overtime opportunities likely

There is a daily incentive of $100.00 a day if the entire 10-hour shift is worked. There is no travel required for this position, and there is a great working environment - the work week is typically a 4/10 shift.

ALL Qualified Applicants MUST:
*Be a licensed Journeyman electrician in the State of Idaho*
Have relatable controls experience and/or educational background
Own basic hand tools needed for electrical work
Abide by all safety regulation(s) on apparatuses used on job site(s) and abide by any requirements and/or regulations on the job site by the client/host
Be able to install electrical raceways including conduit, gutter, and cable tray.
Be able to read and understand electrical drawings requirements and/or regulations on the job site by client/host

Physical requirements include the following abilities:
Lift 50+ lbs. non-repetitively
Work with hands above head for extended periods of time
Access and work from various sizes and types of ladders from heights and not exceed their listed ANSI weight limitations (weight includes personal weight plus tools and/or tool bag)
Access and work in sub-floor areas that require maneuvering in tight, congested areas on hands and knees
Ability to work from heights up to 50' while wearing all required fall protection PPE.
Work in mechanical areas, above ducting, and other facilities where tight maneuvering is required
Work in permit and non-permit confined space access points that can be 24" X 24"
Wear all forms of PPE that are provided and required

Position requires the ability to:
  1. Perform installation and calibration on devices that measure and control: level, temperature, pressure, flow, power, position, chemical composition, etc.
  2. Install and build control panels
  3. Provide support for programming and configuration of programmable control devices.
  4. Perform start-up, point-to-point checks, calibration, and troubleshooting of chemical control operations systems.
  5. Assist with field design and collection of engineering data.
  6. Understand the fundamentals of PLCs and control systems.
  7. Work in high protocol areas including; semi-conductor clean rooms, chemical distribution areas, network/server rooms, ESD areas, etc.

Additional consideration will be given to applicants with the following:
  • A.A.S. or equivalent academic degree in a related electrical field
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • Experience in DeviceNet protocols
  • Experience in pneumatic controls
  • Experience building UL-listed control panels from engineered prints including; intrinsically safe, pneumatic controls, leak detect, and relay intercepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting control systems
Good PC skills (WORD, EXCEL).
Experience with operations of test equipment, (digital multi-meters, various calibrators, etc.)
Experience reading blueprint schematics and wiring diagrams and troubleshooting control circuits from these.
Understanding of the principles of process variable measurements, (temperature, pressure, level, flow, etc.)
