Inside Machinist

• Pay: $37.50/Hour
• Per Diem: $120.00/Day
• Location: 2-year term at Newport News Shipyard
• **Must be a US Citizen
• **Prior to employment, all new hire candidates must pass a background check and hair follicle drug test.

Job Description:
Operation of manual and/or NC machines such as lathes, mills, horizontal & vertical machining centers, EDMs, etc. to fabricate parts utilized for ship and submarine building.

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:

1. Horizontal Boring Mills, HBM’s will have travel that are in the range of X - 500”, Y - 250”, Z - 50” and W - 65” they will also have turn tables that are about 10’ square with a load capacity of 100 tons.
2. Vertical Turning Centers, VTC’s will have tables that are roughly 80” in diameter with a 20 ton table capacity. X total travel will be about 160” and Z will have 80” of travel.
3. Minimum of 6-Years in Inside Machine Shop

Required Skills:
1. Familiar with Numerical Controlled Processes, Manual Data Input, Tooling Offsets,
Conversation Controllers, etc.
2. Experience with controllers such as: Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, Cincinnati-Milacron, etc.
3. Familiar with the use of precision measuring instruments: outside/inside micrometers, depth mics, verniers, etc.
4. Familiar with threading and the various measuring/gauging requirements
5. Drilling/tapping processes
6. Familiar with carbide machining processes
7. Ability to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints
8. Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship
