Reports To: OperationsManager

Pay: $18.85-$20/hr.

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Laborer to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 4201 Florin Perkins Road in Sacramento and limited job-related travel may be required.

Position Summary:

GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Laborer to provide support to one or more facilities. This role's main function will be to sort a variety of material that ranges from recyclables to trash in order to minimize contamination and to maintain high recyclable rates.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety.
  • Be able to extract recyclables in an efficient manner to maximize the recycling potential.
  • Ability to follow directions, daily procedures and protocols.
  • Be able to work in close proximity to others while sorting material from either side of the
  • conveyor belt to increase productivity.
  • Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods of time in front of a conveyor belt
  • requiring the use of both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with different personality types in a calm, patient, and supportive manner.
  • Keen observation skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to react safely and quickly to changing or urgent situations.
  • Ability to distinguish between commodities with ease in order separate the material properly.
  • Endurance to work in unfavorable conditions; ability to work in various conditions with exposure to weather elements as well as working with refuse trash debris.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols is a MUST
Qualifications:

  • Valid ID to be employed in the US
Language Skill:

  • Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
  • Constantly bending and twisting.
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Exposed to unpleasant odors and weather elements daily.
  • Ability to safely ascend / descend stairs multiple times per day.
Work Environment:

Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in outdoor weather conditions and start / end times, with exposure to loud noises and unpleasant odors. Typical work week is Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.
