Description SUMMARY:

The maintenance mechanic is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles and a wide variety of equipment including facility/building accessories, and equipment, including, small engine repair, landscaping, and basic housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines, etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, following all relevant Federal, State/ and local guidelines and requirements.
  • Provide scheduled/unscheduled and emergency maintenance of fleet vehicles, production equipment, forklifts, and gas/diesel engines.
  • Ability to operate a drill press, power hand tools, measuring equipment and test equipment such as a voltmeter.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems, including engine issues, electrical problems, and transmission malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and understand electrical circuits, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment schematics, and prints.
  • Experience in electrical codes, installing or repair wiring, electrical and electrical components, and pipe systems.
  • Perform necessary repairs or provide temporary fixes to safely get trucks and trailers back on the road. This may include changing tires, jump-starting batteries, and addressing minor engine issues.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as shocks, struts, air bags, and hydraulic systems.
  • Works with the maintenance or operations manager to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess courses of action needed to complete required tasks.
  • Help document and monitor maintenance logs/requests; conducts maintenance as needed.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of two to four years medium/heavy truck Fleet mechanic repair experience.
  • Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred).
  • ASE certification in Medium-Heavy Trucks preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The physical demands of the job, include bending, sitting, standing, walking, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and driving.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds off the ground.
  • Must be able to travel/drive as needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Parts inventory and basic data entry experience.
  • Forklift operations.
