Machinist

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Machinist with expertise in lathe operations to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating manual and CNC lathes to fabricate, modify, and repair industrial components. This role is crucial in ensuring precision manufacturing for heavy equipment, machinery, and industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and adjust manual and CNC lathes to machine precision parts from raw materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accuracy in machining processes.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials, including steel, aluminum, and alloys.
• Conduct quality checks using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Perform routine maintenance on lathes and ensure proper calibration of tools.
• Troubleshoot and adjust lathe operations to optimize production efficiency and minimize waste.
• Work with engineers and production teams to modify and improve component designs as needed.
• Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
• 3+ years of experience operating manual and CNC lathes in an industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, metal properties, and tooling selection.
• Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Knowledge of G-code programming and CNC control systems is a plus.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, work in a fast-paced environment, and stand for long periods.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.

Work Environment:

• Industrial machine shop environment with exposure to high-speed rotating machinery, metal shavings, and lubricants.
• Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
• Work may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
