Description
Key responsibilities
Constructs,maintains,and retains a working knowledge of the YVEA transmission and distribution electrical system including:
clearing right-of-way, digging pole and anchor holes, framing poles, setting poles and anchors,
stringing, sagging, armor rodding, tying in of conductors, making up and installing downguys,
Installing and maintaining underground equipment, cable, and special underground
Installs transformers, transformer banks, breakers, take-off assemblies, services, regulators, streetlights and related equipment, meters, lightning arrester equipment, etc. on energized or de-energized
Maintains and repairs switching structures and substations. Maintains and tests oil circuit breakers, oil circuit reclosers, sectionalizers, and transformers.
Reads operations counters and forwards recorded
Patrols transmission and distribution lines and reports (in writing) conditions which may need
Assist meter technician in the construction or maintenance of C.T. and P.T. meter
Tests and reports voltage condition and load checks, balance loads; takes load and voltage surveys as
Performs standby as scheduled to answer trouble calls when
Maintains assigned vehicles and tools in a safe operating condition; refers vehicle repair work to mechanic in writing.
Completes all proper reports as relates to job briefings, truck maintenance, daily time and mileage reports, staking sheets, oil samples, switching orders, transformer changes, OCR & sectionalizer changes, pole and underground maintenance reports, outage reports, etc. as required to maintain proper files and documentation.
Accountable for materials used and returned, loading and unloading of material.
Is responsible for the performance and quality of workmanship on the crew/apprentice.
In charge of Maintaining and testing of rubber goods.
Performs other miscellaneous duties to accomplish the assigned work such as loading and unloading poles, transformers, and other material, reads meters, removes for testing, or makes field test of meters as required, operates two-way radio, etc.

Key skills
Working knowledge of the duties associated with the position, along with knowledge or ability to learn RUS Electrical/Fiber construction specifications and a portion of the National Electric Safety
Proficient in Lock out Tag out procedures as well as taking clearances
Ability to read, write and do
Ability to communicate clearly and in a professional manner to coworkers and members.
Demonstrated ability to follow directions and prioritize job
Ability to analyze information, coordinate people and resources and communicate with a variety of co-workers.
Thorough knowledge of first aid and
Must be able to use a tablet and smartphone and ability to learn industry software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Experience
Completion of a qualified four-year apprentice lineman/line-worker training program with certification of the successful completion of the program or proof of previous employment as a journeyman lineman by another utility with a minimum of 4-years'
Class A CDL with a satisfactory driving and safety record
Salary
59.50 Hour
